Collective Resilience and Planting Seeds Consulting are pleased to be  leading partners with the City  of San Leandro, support the development of a network of resilience hubs, spaces and blocks through capacity building workshops, funding opportunities and consulting.

Ready for Anything

We are supporting the Cohort’s network of sites – including places of worship, community centers, and neighborhoods – is centering the most vulnerable populations and focusing on disaster preparedness, community care and belonging, and climate mitigation and adaptation to be “ready for anything”.

Program Activities

In-Person Events and Workshops

In-person workshops and skill shares are scheduled in collaboration with sites and our organizational partners.

Funding

Sites who participate in the cohort have the opportunity to apply for funding from the City of San Leandro’s grants program to develop their site as a hub.

Consulting

RHI consultants and staff are providing sites with one-on-one consulting around fundraising and community organizing needs.

Online Workshops

Our monthly online workshops feature topics ranging from emergency preparedness to conflict resolution and fundraising, and offer sites the opportunity to share ideas and troubleshoot issues.

Temple Beth Shalom

A historic synagogue with a forward-thinking leadership. Their resilience hubs practices include becoming certified as a green business.

Neighbors are together building a resilient neighborhood!

Bethel Community Church

Food distribution, new community garden and other community programming make it an amazing example of resiliency in action.

A nonprofit, second-hand clothing store and workspace dedicated to serving teens and young adults ages 13-24.

Susan Silber
Planting Seeds Consulting

 

Susan brings more than three decades of rich experiences as a community organizer, environmental educator, fundraiser and community resilience practitioner as the sole proprieter of Planting Seeds Consulting. She previously founded and directed the NorCal Resilience Network, which birthed the Resilience Hubs Initiative. Susan also teaches nature-based education with Gaia Passages and supports fundraising with grassroots environmental organizations.
Hoi-Fei Mok
Sustainability Manager, City of San Leandro

 

Dr. Hoi-Fei Mok, PhD (they/them) is the sustainability manager at the City of San Leandro, leading the City’s implementation of the Climate Action Plan and other sustainability programs. With a strong interdisciplinary background in environmental science, art, and social justice, Fei aims to build out equitable community-driven strategies for local resilience to climate change in their hometown of San Leandro. Fei currently serves on the California Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) Climate Network, the National Adaptation Forum equity advisory committee, and the Bay Area Climate Adaptation Network (BayCAN) equity working group.
