Summer of Resilience
The Summer of Resilience is a grassroots action campaign using a place-based, “ready for anything” framework. We are building hyper-local networks of neighborhoods, community spaces and aligned partners for disaster resilience and CLIMATE SURVIVAL.
We are entering a summer defined by a convergence of unprecedented environmental and economic pressures. Among them:
- The impending Super El Niño cycle could bring even more climate disruptions around the planet, from lethal extreme heat waves to severe unseasonal storms
- The War of Choice in Iran compounded with these climate disruptions is creating a highly volatile food system and the possibility of localized grocery shortages and soaring costs.
- Communities are facing added economic pressures as we face a loss of our social safety nets.
Our Strategies
LEARN AND TAKE ACTION
We will offer both in-person and online Train the Trainer workshops and Survival programs for neighborhood groups and community spaces/resilience hubs around topics like mutual aid, growing food, distributing food, crop swaps, buyers clubs, neighborhood asset mapping and preparing for/responding to extreme weather like extreme heat and atmospheric rivers.
SHARING STORIES
We will share art, videos, zines, stories and other creative ways that groups and individuals are building resilience in their neighborhoods and sites through social media.
RESOURCE SHARING
We will provide opportunities to donate emergency supplies and financial resources to neighborhoods, mutual aid groups and community spaces/resilience hubs.
