Purpose

The purpose of Collective Resilience is to inspire people-powered, nature-inspired and equity-based resilience through place-based projects. Our intention is to help guide resilience hubs, spaces and blocks to evolve and flourish through training workshops, equitable funding distribution and authentic cross-sector collaborations.

Our Work

Collective Resilience is actively looking for partners and collaborators. We are a small grassroots organization with a huge vision.

If any of our work speaks to you, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Our work is evolving to fit the needs of organizations and communities and organizations who request to work with us, but mainly falls into the following categories:

Research & Resources

How can resilience hubs, spaces and blocks be thoughtfully but quickly scaled up? Who are some of the organizations doing this work already? Who WANTS to be doing this work? We hope that Collective Resilience can serve as a hub for research and resources, with present and future work including:

  • Sharing case studies about sites around the country.
  • Conducting in-depth analysis with organizations, local governments and sectors to analyze how to best scale up this work.

Training & Strategic Planning

Collective Resilience can offer a variety of customizable workshops introducing participants to resilient places.  They can be offered in person (Bay Area only) or online and include:

  • For General Audiences: Introduction to Resilience Hubs, Spaces and Neighborhoods (2-hours)
  • For Sites: Introduction to Resilience Hubs (day-long)
  • For Organizations and Local Governments: Developing a Resilient Places Network

Presentations & Site Assessments

We deliver introductory presentations and in-person visits for sites and organizations to get started in an organization or site’s goals in becoming resilience hubs and neighborhoods. We can also connect you with guest speakers to speak about their on-the-ground work in developing resilience hubs.

Coalition Work

We believe the power of the collective! Our coalition work includes:

BayCAN is a collaborative network of local government staff and partnering organizations working to help the Bay Area respond effectively and equitably to the impacts of climate change on human health, infrastructure and natural systems.

The California Green New Deal Coalition is a coalition of community organizations, advocates, unions, and allies across California who know that the future of our state and planet depends on rapidly transitioning to a clean energy economy with justice at its core.
